India will be the world's largest country of older parents living apart from their children.
By 2050, one in five Indians will be over 60. Most will live in cities; many of their children won't. We're building the system India will need for that decade — calmly, deliberately, and starting now.
Why now
Hospitals, RWAs, neighbours, doctors, pharmacies — every piece of the care system exists. None of them talk to each other. The opportunity is not a new app. It's the connective tissue.
Why us
We are a small team — operators, geriatricians, designers, ex-Practo, ex-Urban Company — who watched our own parents get older from a distance, and decided we could do better than improvising.
What we won't do
No sale of data. No advertising. No marketplace of random "service providers". No expansion before we can guarantee response in a city. No optimism in the visit notes.
Who's behind this
Hyderabad-based, India-incorporated, family-funded for the first year. Advised by geriatricians from CARE, Apollo, and AIIMS Delhi. Press & investor enquiries: hello@apnawalo.in.
